Homework Sheet May 10th - May 14th
Thank you to everyone for making my Teacher Appreciation week such a nice one. I enjoyed the notes, cards, treats, school supplies, pictures, flowers and all of my gifts. Obviously, it is nice to be appreciated but I do want to tell you that I have appreciated working with you also. Teaching your child is a joint adventure between home and school and we both have to work together for the benefit of your child.
Fieldtrip to West Jefferson Medical Center on Wednesday, May 12th. We will leave school at 9:45am and return at 11:15am. We will be riding the Salem School bus, the cost of the fieldtrip is $2.00. Please make sure you return the permission slip signed even if your child won’t be attending. We will tour the pediatric area of the hospital.
May 21st is Kindergarten Graduation. It is a tradition at Salem that the 1st Grade Parents help serve and clean up after the reception. Graduation starts at 7:00pm and is usually over by 8:00pm-8:30pm. I will be there at 7:00 to start setting the refreshments out. I will need a few parents to help pour drinks and clean up the dishes after the reception. Please let me know if you will be able to help.

Homework Sheet May 3rd - May 7th
Ladybug Story — The class will be writing a story about a ladybug this week as homework. The story should be about 4 sentences long. On May 7th , the students will be expected to read their stories aloud to the class, please have them practice reading their stories at home. I am sending home a sheet of notebook paper for them to write a “rough” draft of their story on before writing it on the main sheet of paper. The story is due on Friday, May 7th . Remember to print neatly, use model sentences and old + new sentence structure. Remember to write a title for your story. I am beginning to see more stories being written using the old + new pattern for sentences. In class we have been using this pattern and I have been trying to show the class how when using this pattern the story is easier to write.
Book Order— I will be placing the last book order for this school year on Friday, May 7th . If you would like to place an order and are writing a check please make the check payable to Scholastic Book Club.
