
All of our computers here at school (with the exception of PreK-4 , PreK-3 and Kindergarten) are networked and Internet accessible. We have 22 computers in the Computer Lab. All students from K through 8th come to the lab once a week.
The following are our goals and objectives that we hope to accomplish this year at Salem:
This year we hold our 15th Annual Winter Carnival. It is on Saturday, December 5th. All proceeds from the Winter Carnival go toward the maintenance of the Computer Lab.
Last years Winter Carnival was a great success. We raised funds that have been used to purchase new tables and chairs for the computer lab, as well as some new software that will benefit all of our students.
The following are our goals and objectives that we hope to accomplish this year at Salem:
- Students will learn the history of computers and how they have changed over the years.
- Students will learn about hardware and what is inside of their computer.
- Students will learn about different types of software that can be used to help with their studies.
- Students will learn basic typing skills.
- Students will learn about word processing programs that will enable them to type reports and other papers for their classes.
- Students will learn to navigate the Internet using a web browser. They will learn to access educational web sites. They will also learn how to use a search engine to do an effective search in order to glean information to be used for projects and reports.
- Students will have access to sources of knowledge and information outside the realm of the textbook.
- Students will have the foundation in computer skills and knowledge to prepare them for high school.
